This could be the front door of our workshop, as it is full of promises about what it opens onto: some hidden treasure, Ali Baba's Den or family secrets of the past.
Well, it doesn't host leather skins and beautiful handbags. It's just our old shed's door, behind which horrible spiders spin their webs between the lawn mower, paint buckets and other gardening tools....

This is the place where magic happens : knives, hammers, cutting blades, sewing machines and hole punches are all involved in cutting leather, punching holes, hammering rivets and sewing thread in the marvelous craft of making handbags.

Steven Harkin has been an artist, designer, maker, and producer of leather accessories for some 25 years. Steven’s creative wit and innovative design, has gained him international recognition, and seen his handbags acquired by both public and private collections across the globe.

Australian born, Steven spent several years developing and establishing skills and markets in Italy. Now established in Britain, the “s t e v e n  h a r k i n” range of products represents quality, innovation and of course, style.

We are not mass producers, but produce in small production runs. All our handbags are hand made in our own workshop, requiring skill and devotion. Our products are designed as a whole; many components are also designed and made within our workshop to ensure the best possible product and finish.

Innovative construction techniques and use of materials allows us to create products that are durable and functional, and yet, are said to be just as much a design artefact. Time, energy, and experience are put into each and every design to achieve a carefully considered balance between form and function. The results being, handbags that are particularly attractive to the discerning buyer looking for something extraordinary.
